Thomasville Medical Center is pursuing state approval to add 12 inpatient psychiatric beds to its facility.
The expansion, if approved, would give the hospital 45 inpatient psychiatric beds. The estimated cost of the expansion is $701,000.
The hospital focuses those beds on people age 55 and older who either have a mental-health illness and/or substance-abuse problem. It provides services to other Novant Health Inc. groups in the region.
