FINALLY, the true horror of her sickening crime seems to have got through to Elisa Baker.
As she was led from North Carolina’s Catawba County Court to spend up to 18 years in jail for the murder and torment she dealt out to a vulnerable Australian child, Baker’s unrelenting sobbing could be heard from behind a closed door.
But her plea deal with North Carolina authorities, in which she avoided facing death in exchange for leading them to the 10-year-old’s scattered remains, leaves many questions unanswered.
