Police Chief Scott Cunningham said Thursday that officers involved in the May 25 standoff with Donald Ray Moore that ended in his killing had acted legally and used deadly force appropriately to end a dangerous situation at Moore’s house on Reynolds Park Road.

“This wasn’t a case of excessive force,” Cunningham said at a news conference in the Public Safety Center. “Officers used deadly force to stop Mr. Moore’s use of deadly force.”
