Officers involved in Cary hostage-taker shooting will not be charged – Raleigh News & Observer

District Attorney Colon Willoughby Jr. will not press charges against the five Wake County law enforcement officers who fired their guns at Devon Mitchell, a 19-year-old suspected of taking hostages in Cary in February.

Mitchell died on Feb. 10 after four Cary police officers and one Wake County deputy shot at him outside the Wachovia bank where he held several people hostage by pretending to have a gun, authorities say.
