The U.S. Department of Justice is threatening to sue the state of North Carolina in order to find more integrated housing for those with mental illness currently living in adult care centers.
Count Marilyn Williams among those who support the move.
Williams runs the Emmanuel Family Care Home at White Oak Drive in Burlington. It’s one of 40 family adult-sized care centers in Alamance County. Family adult care center facilities are those with two to six licensed beds.
