Since summer 2009, North Carolinians have felt the state’s fiscal crisis through increased sales and income taxes.
Those new sales and income taxes will come off the books in 2011 – unless the governor and newly elected Republican leadership at the state capital break their recent promises – but residents may continue to feel the crisis when they take their children to school, enroll in college, visit the emergency room, pay a traffic ticket, call the police or otherwise go about their lives.
