Editorial: State owes better to the mentally ill : Greensboro News-Record

North Carolina need look no farther than Georgia to see what’s in store if it doesn’t start cleaning up the way it cares for people who battle mental illness.

The U.S. Department of Justice filed suit against Georgia to force mental health reform there. By July 1, 2015, according to a settlement agreement, that state must provide appropriate homes for as many as 9,000 people with mental illnesses and create a vast support system to help them succeed in community-based settings.
