Sometimes a simple solution isn’t so simple after all.

Consider the seemingly logical decree by the state’s community college system that campuses may deny admission to students who are deemed to be “an articulable, imminent and significant” threat.

The system’s board voted last week to move forward with such a policy on the state’s 58 community college campuses. The decision was announced in the wake of the Jan. 8 shootings in Tucson, Ariz., that claimed six lives and left Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords critically wounded.
