RALEIGH — A coalition of advocacy groups has filed a federal class-action lawsuit against the state Department of Health and Human Services over deep cuts in Medicaid benefits to people with developmental disabilities.
The lawsuit filed Tuesday alleges that the state failed to follow proper procedures allowing recipients and their families to appeal the cuts to services enacted July 1 as part of a broader statewide effort to trim Medicaid costs.
