Bill introduced to bar the closing of Dix Hospital – Raleigh News & Observer

Three Wake County legislators have introduced a bill in the N.C. House that seeks to bar the closure of Dorothea Dix Hospital.

Democratic Representatives Deborah Ross, Jennifer Weiss and Darren Jackson are the primary sponsors of the bill filed Wednesday, which would “disapprove” the closure of the historic mental hospital sought by state Department of Health and Human Services. So far, one Republican lawmaker, Rep. Tom Murry of Morrisville, has signed on as a co-sponsor.
