A bill headed for a floor vote in the state Senate would require proceeds from any sale of land from Dorothea Dix Hospital to be transferred to the Mental Health Trust Fund.
No specific plans to sell off the sprawling grounds at the now largely vacant state mental hospital have yet been made public, and many, including Raleigh Mayor Charles Meeker, are pushing for the creation of a park at the site.
