Asheville salons ready shears for annual Cut the Risk benefit | Asheville Citizen-Times

ASHEVILLE — Stylists throughout the city are getting ready for area residents who are willing to part with their hair to benefit the Women at Risk program.

Area stylists and technicians have donated more than 200 appointments for services from haircuts and massages to manicures and facials, all up for grabs at 20 of the area’s top salons, for the ninth annual Cut the Risk fundraiser on Jan. 17.

The one-day event benefits Women at Risk, operated by Western Carolinians for Criminal Justice. In 2009, the program helped 145 women at risk of incarceration with treatment and counseling.
