She’s the wife of President Ronald Reagan’s press secretary, Jim Brady, who was shot in the head in 1981 during the attempt on Reagan’s life. He supported the assault weapon ban, which was allowed to expire in 2004. Had the ban been renewed, the Tucson gunman could not have legally purchased his semiautomatic pistol’s 31-round bullet magazine.
