SHELBY — Many of Shamanda Burston’s friends aspire to be rappers or musicians. When the 21-year-old asked them why, they said music was their outlet — a way to express themselves.
That’s why Shamanda is excited to be a part of “Pass the Mic,” a project supported by UNC-Charlotte, the Cleveland County Mental Health Association, N.C. Families United and NC Mental Health Consumers’ Organization.
