BURNSVILLE — A judge sentenced a 50-year-old Yancey County man to two consecutive life terms after the man was convicted of the January murder of his parents.
Edward Montgomery Colyer, who had a history of mental illness and drug problems, was arrested Jan. 22 in a Fletcher motel. A motel employee became concerned after Colyer alluded to harming his parents.
