We’re all thankful that the election is over; but it’s time now for the real work. I think I have found an interesting link between the NFL, the N.C. General Assembly and Congress. It concerns mastering the fundamentals.
As you probably know, the NFL is having a real problem with helmet-to-helmet collisions and is cracking down before someone gets killed. Former All-Pro and current broadcaster Rodney Harrison thinks he knows the problem: “Guys are too lazy nowadays. They don’t want to tackle; they just want the big shot.” He suggests that at every level the fundamentals of proper tackling are not being taught. Watching SportsCenter has led all players from termites to the NFL to want to make the “big hit.” Failure to tackle properly, however, can leave you or your opponent paralyzed. It’s about the fundamentals.
