Packets of tissues were stacked on the tables next to rolls of Lifesavers for the second local conference Saturday for the National Survivors of Suicide Day at Grace Lutheran Church.
“Because suicide is very painful, (the conference) has people gather together and provide support and let them know they’re not alone,” said organizer Rebecca Jones.
Jones’ son, Jacob Swanson, ended his life in January 2009 at the age of 17. Since then, Jones has worked to create awareness around the issue of teens and suicide.
