ASHEVILLE — With its scenic overlooks and easy access, it’s no surprise the Blue Ridge Parkway is the nation’s most visited national park unit.
But these attributes have elevated the parkway to a less envious position: more suicides than any other national park in the country.
Fifteen people took their lives on the Blue Ridge Parkway from 2003-09, more than any other national park unit, according to a report released by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. There were also six suicide attempts.
