I am writing in support of the well-written guest commentary “State must improve mental health care” (AC-T, Sept. 12). Dr. Britt Peterson outlined the difficulty experienced in North Carolina for the past several years.
I would add this important fact: It is less costly to have an effective public mental health, developmental disabilities and substance abuse service system of care than it is not to have one.
