Leaders of an advocacy group and an industry association have urged the U.S. Justice Department to investigate sweeping cuts in North Carolina’s Medicaid Personal Care Services Program. Because of the cuts, they say, people are dying.
The slashed home-care budget also means people are being forced into institutional care instead of getting the services they need at home – which is the best and least costly way to care for many patients.
