What’s going on here? There’s a question for Gov. Beverly Perdue, for Lanier Cansler, secretary of the state Department of Health and Human Services, and for lawmakers. It’s a serious question, because there are curious circumstances surrounding the decision to move ahead with the closing of Dorothea Dix Hospital in Raleigh, the state’s oldest hospital treating mental illness, and the moving of patients to Central Regional Hospital in Butner and Cherry Hospital in Goldsboro.
