With all the hand-wringing over what may or may not happen with the total overhaul of our nation’s health-care system, here in North Carolina we have been witnessing what a centralized, inside-the-beltway approach to managing access to quality care can do to patients and providers. Flying pretty much under the national-news-media radar over the past six months, not many people are aware of the impact this situation is having in our state right now, which is far from encouraging.
