Mental health services provider closes, catches clients off guard – Fayetteville Observer

A Fayetteville-based mental health services provider has abruptly ceased operations after asking a judge to supervise a sale of the company.

Preferred Alternatives Inc., which used to be Cumberland County’s biggest operator of group homes, made the request in U.S. Bankruptcy Court this week in Wilson. In the process, the company disclosed that the Internal Revenue Service is threatening to levy its accounts.
