County officials hope to name a new agency early next month to take over housing, clinical and other services currently run by a nonprofit that serves hundreds of people with mental health and substance abuse issues.
The search for a new provider comes as the county’s Area Mental Health department prepares to cut its ties with Mecklenburg Open Door. The nonprofit is under scrutiny because of alleged financial problems at the agency, as well as a federal review critical of how the organization managed one of its housing programs.
