Many private N.C. mental-health centers shut out – Charlotte Observer

State regulators may have pushed hundreds of private mental-health providers out of business, saying they are unqualified – or in the worst cases, unscrupulous.

North Carolina has agreed to license fewer than 150 of the 600 operators who applied to treat Medicaid patients under new rules starting Jan.1 that are supposed to improve care and eliminate fraud.
