Pardee Hospital provided more than $20 million in community benefits last year, which included operating the education center at Blue Ridge Mall.

But the next few years are going to be difficult because of the recently passed health care reform, hospital officials told county commissioners during an annual report Wednesday morning during their monthly meeting.

Mental health and a primary care physician shortage will be the most pressing needs in the near future, Pardee Hospital Board Chairman Bill Lapsley said.
