RALEIGH — Capital-area homeless veterans are invited to the annual Veterans Stand Down on Thursday, where several agencies will offer former fighters who are struggling to make it in the civilian world.
The event, part of a national movement that started in California in the late 1980s, is an effort to get help to veterans who might not go to a social services or Veterans Administration office to ask for it.
