Greensboro, county reach deal on Guilford Center : Greensboro News-Record

GREENSBORO — The city and Guilford County have come to an agreement that may keep involuntary psychiatric commitments out of local emergency rooms — for the next six months, at least.

The county has agreed to pay for security at the Guilford Center, where involuntary psychiatric patients are usually taken by Greensboro police and county deputies for evaluation, according to an e-mail from Assistant City Manager Mike Speedling
