Father of Hendersonville shooting victim disputes Sheriff Office’s account | Asheville Citizen-Times

MILLS RIVER — The father of a mentally disabled woman shot and killed by Sheriff’s Office deputies Sunday doesn’t believe his daughter was capable of shooting at anyone, much less law enforcement officers.

“That little kid didn’t even know how to use a gun,” said Herman Wright, the father of the deceased woman, Elizabeth Ann Shipman, 42. “And they said she fired a shot — she might’ve beat on the wall and it sounded like a shot. But from the top of my heart, sir, she doesn’t have a gun and doesn’t know how to use one.”
