The Oct. 14 article regarding the jailing (criminalization) of persons with mental illness was yet another reminder of North Carolina’s failure to provide adequate care for those who suffer with a no-fault brain disease. Decades of budget cuts coupled with a hastily written and executed mental health “reform” plan have further cut services for the mentally ill.
