Just how many warnings from the feds will we need, how many employee complaints must we hear and how many times must patients’ safety be compromised before North Carolina finally fixes Cherry Hospital in Goldsboro, a mental health care facility? The hospital once again, following a surprise inspection, finds itself threatened by the federal government with a possible declaration that it no longer would be eligible for funding from Medicaid and Medicare. That typically means about $800,000 a month.
