Mecklenburg County commissioners backed a federal legislative agenda Tuesday that seeks, among other things, at least $10.7 million to support for several construction projects and other initiatives.
The bulk of the money would go to green projects in the county, such as $3 million to replace old diesel vehicle engines across Mecklenburg and at least $500,000 to expand compost programs.
The county also is seeking money to help support the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, including $3.5 million for construction work in and around Jail North off Spector Drive, and $480,000 for substance abuse or mental health programs for inmates
