On a recent Saturday, James McDaniel died. There was no lengthy obituary, not even a simple listing of his death. His death went unnoticed like much of his life had.

For the last three and a half years, James lived in a tent in the woods in Charlotte. He struggled with a myriad of health problems and at the age of 48, his body finally gave way. He died, finding respite in a hospice house for his last moments.
