In the kitchen, teacher’s assistant Helen Bowers gives Ewan Toscano his instructions: When he waters the plants, he should count to 10.

“… 8, 9, 10,” Toscano repeats.

“And when you get to 10, stop,” Bowers says.

“I’ll do my best,” Toscano says. He hugs the watering can to his chest like a football and strides into the hall.
