ASHEVILLE — Buncombe County is scaling back and outsourcing some health services for children and pregnant women, including a dental program serving thousands of preschool kids.
The dental education program in child care centers that included puppet shows about dental hygiene, dental screenings, referrals for care and free toothbrushes, was funded by Smart Start of Buncombe County and run by the Buncombe County Department of Health. It was cut in July because of budget constraints.
