State health care officials are investigating events that led to the recent death of a patient at a Nash County psychiatric hospital, an N.C. Department of Health and Human Services spokesman confirmed Wednesday. Investigators from the N.C. Division of Health Service Regulation were on scene last week at Coastal Plain Hospital, reviewing records and interviewing staff to determine if neglect played a role in the July death of 23-year-old James R. Collins.
