Winston-Salem’s police chief pledged yesterday his department’s support for resolving the issues of monitoring psychiatric patients in emergency rooms. But Scott Cunningham also offered a challenge to find ways for all affected groups — advocates, civic, government, health-care, law-enforcement and CenterPoint Human Services — to come up with the resources to offer better services to psychiatric patients well before they reach the emergency room.
