News 14 Lawmakers say budget cuts to mental health went too far

RALEIGH – State and local providers say state budgets cuts are hurting mental health services.

They delivered their analysis to state lawmakers Tuesday during a joint legislative oversight committee.

“There will be consumers who fall through the cracks,” said Rhett Melton, of Pathways LME in Gaston, Cleveland and Lincoln counties. “There will be consumers who have been in services for a while that will no longer be able to receive those services.”
