ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Almost 16 years ago, Shawn Thigpen had his future told.
The prediction didn’t come from a fortuneteller or palm reader but from a doctor. The news wasn’t good. After informing Shawn’s mother, Rachel Thigpen, that her 3-month-old son had cerebral palsy and mental retardation, the doctor said he probably would die by his fifth birthday. Continued >
