Mental health care employees lacked pay | Asheville Citizen-Times

MARSHALL — Patients feeling left in the lurch by the pullout of their mental health care provider from Madison County are experiencing what the company’s workers say they have felt for months.

Some former employees of Alpha Omega Health say their employer — hundreds of miles away in Raleigh — struggled to pay them on time and reimburse them for basic purchases.

“It’s been about six months of pure hell,” said Sherrie Ledford, a nurse who said she paid for syringes, gloves and other necessities out of her own pocket.
