RALEIGH — A man formerly of Selma pleaded guilty to manslaughter charges Monday and was given a probationary sentence for causing a fatal accident that killed a brother and sister.
Victoriano Layon appeared to be having a psychotic episode during the Jan. 11, 2008, wreck and may have slammed into a stopped car thinking a traffic signal was God beckoning to him, according to accounts of the accident described by Wake prosecutors and a report from a forensic psychiatrist hired by Layon’s defense attorney.
