The Beacon Center, a local mental health services provider, wisely has dipped into millions of dollars in reserves in order to offset state funding cutbacks.
North Carolina has been hit by a double whammy this year. The state’s system for mental health services is a wreck, following reforms implemented by then-Gov. Mike Easley.
